About

Hello there!

I’m Jade Moore, and yes that is a photo of me meeting Jon Ronson.

I’m a freelance writer/journalist, and poet. I’ve spent the last four years at Nottingham Trent University: first I studied English with Creative Writing (lots of reading, lots of writing), then went on to do an MA in Magazine Journalism (lots of interviewing, lots of Adobe Indesign). Now, I’m out in the world trying to use all of that knowledge on a freelance basis.

I write for The Beestonian magazine, which is a really great hyper-local magazine that’s mad about Beeston.

When I’m not doing that, I’m reviewing books, writing poetry, performing poetry, proofreading fiction or sitting here in WordPress land editing websites. I’ve had a few bits of writing published, and you can find out more on my publications page.

On this blog you’ll find writing about writing, the occasional poem, and…quite a bit of mental health-related posts. I’m an introvert, and I also have anxiety. This will be a space for me to write about how anxiety affects various areas of my life.

Have fun reading/exploring my blog, and always feel free to leave me a comment, because words from other people always make me happy.

Jade

Thanks I’ve written 799 short stories. I want my 800th story to be special but I’ll have to take a break very doped up from my meds. I’ll go check out some more of your writing it’s good and very deep!

That’s amazing! I’ve tried my hand at short stories but when it comes to prose I tend to write more than first intended. I’ve yet to master the craft of short stories. I try to write stuff that will make me feel better for having written it and poetry is perfect for that.

You will master it. It’s not hard I got it down to a routine and structure. But I’d stay with your poems for the moment they are really awesome. A lot of passion, emotion and pure talent you put into those. I first started out writing poems as a writer that was how I got to writing books then onto writing short stories.

I write poetry mostly on this blog but outside of that I’m working on three novels. One for my uni dissertation, and the other two just for myself, both young adult.

Cool! I have been working on 2 books at the same time a horror book and a football book. I’ve taken a break in the meantime. But I will go back and finish them later. I love young adult books. I don’t read enough because I am always writing. My goal is to make it to a 1000 stories almost 80 percent of the way there. Hope you get your books published!

I can imagine that writing 1000 short stories would make a great book! I would love to be published, but at the moment writing them for myself is what keeps me writing.

I am the same way I write to cope with my health and mental health problems and like to write stories for others to make them feel better.

Exactly! I had really bad anxiety (and still do sometimes) so most of my poems are about that and how I try to deal with it. I also like to think that others who are going through something similar would benefit from reading what I write.

Been having trouble with sleep next week my pdoc giving a sleep med to help with that so that should work out. I have been writing a lot. Switched from horror to doing children’s stories. I think the childrens stories are better because you get to send the right messages to young children. My favorite story of all time is ‘Who is the prettiest Princess? about 5 princesses in debate who is the most beautiful they ask an old man and he shows each of them what real beauty is and how they all are beautiful. been having fun with the kids stories, very hot out though is hot over there?

We did have a period of really hot weather, but it’s calmed down a bit now and actually rained today! Hopefully your medication will help with sleeping, it’s never good if you can’t sleep properly. There’s a different kind of quality to a story written for children, so much so that they can often be enjoyed by adults. As you have proved by naming your favourite story of all time 🙂
